Because students in grades 9-12 are the oldest students in the building, they have both more freedom and more responsibility. They are free to be in many places in the school during unscheduled time, and they must remember they share a building with people who are both younger and smaller who look up to them as examples. High school students are also free to pick their own classes while remembering that certain classes are required for graduation. Students may choose to create standards-based, self-designed classes through the Renaissance Program. Being able to balance freedom and responsibility is the hallmark of the adults we are helping our young people become.
